Reading Time: 4 min

Target Audience: Caregivers, therapists, or guided patients Session Length: 20–30 minutes x 2–4 per day Course Format: Self-guided rehab tutorial + printable protocol plan
📌 Course Goal:
To rebuild full-body coordination, strength, and balance in post-stroke patients through neuro-functional movement, crawling-based motor patterning, proprioceptive balance, and core strengthening—restoring confidence, gait stability, and cognitive multitasking.
🧰 WHAT YOU NEED:
Floor mat or padded surface
Couch or stable low bar (for squats and assisted work)
Percussor tool
Visual tools: rainbow ribbon, ball
Mirror (for posture check)
Optional: eye patch + earbud for reflex rebalancing
Walker, step setup, and stairs
Journal/log
🧭 DAILY ROUTINE OVERVIEW
⏰ Daily Sessions:
9 AM / 3 PM: Full body activation (stretch → crawling → walking)
11 AM / 5 PM: Stretch + crawling focus + posture retraining
🔁 CORE SESSION TEMPLATE:
🔹 Phase 1: Stretch Warm-Up + Breathwork (10 min)
On Back:
Arrow Pose (arms overhead, toes pointed)
5 deep breaths with swallows at the top
Add pillow under mid-back for extension
Remove pillow and repeat
Foot Mobility: Circles, figure 8s, toe wiggles
Healthy Start Crossover Reset
Cross right knee over, left arm up — turn head into armpit
Inhale, swallow at top → switch sides (3–5 reps)
Progression:
Scorpion Stretch
Lay on side, figure-4 top leg, rotate into stretch, repeat each side
Cat Stretch → Child’s Pose → Frog Stretch
Recovery: return to Arrow Pose
🔹 Phase 2: Crawling Activation (10–15 min)
Quadruped Crawling with Patterns:
Figure 8s (2 laps per direction)
Cat-cow stretch during transitions
Add balance awareness with mirrored movement
Kneeling Activation:
Deep hip hula (pelvic rotations & figure 8s)
Knee walking in slow march pattern
Couch-assisted balance: airplane walk, couch knee taps
🔹 Phase 3: Balance & Strength Work (10–15 min)
Posture Checks:
Mirror check: hips square, knees under shoulders
Airplane arms, squat posture “cheerleader butt” cues
Strength Circuits:
Couch Squats (3x15)
Calf Raises – each leg + both (3x15)
Planks – front, side, alternating (30–60 sec each)
Pushups / Triceps Dips on couch (3x15)
Balance Drills:
1-Leg Knee Balance on couch (circle leg to find sticky spots)
Catcher Squat Balance (flat foot then on balls of feet)
Sumo Hover Squats (no hand support)
Visual + Ball Catching Exercises
Bounce, reach, depth changes
Rainbow Ribbon (8 directions, swallow at apex)
🧠 Cognitive & Sensory Integration
Visual Tracking & Brain Training:
Eye tracking with ribbon
Ball toss toward ceiling and mirror
Eye patch + earbud (same side) for neurologic reset
Swallowing & Reflex Reeducation:
Percussor under hyoid bone
Rolling Adam’s apple
Swallowing coordination in each stretch
Cognitive Multitasking:
Count steps during walking laps
Stop every 5 steps for posture check (in walker box)
🧱 Weekly Progressions & Adjustments
📓 Additions Over Time:
Reverse & forward walking in figure 8s
Percussion for problem zones (IT band, spine, hip)
Facial exercises for droop correction
Wii Fit or VR balance training
Squat + throw (ball toward ceiling)
Visual-motor patterning
⚠️ Problem-Solving Protocols
Reflux during floor work?
Wait 45–60 min post-meal
Sit upright, ice, slow breathing
Dragging limb?
Percuss leg (inside/outside), hip, sacrum
Check symmetry during marching or squats
Swallowing fatigue?
Reintroduce Rainbow Ribbon + swallowing pattern
Ear pressure imbalance?
Address sinuses, percussor on skull
Lemon or vinegar protocol for kidney clearing
📝 Homework Assignments
Daily:
Couch Squats (3x15)
Calf Raises (3x15)
Knee Diamonds (3x15 each leg)
Rainbow Ribbon & Ball Catch (10 mins)
Weekly Goals:
100 squats a day
Log balance progress
Note fatigue/cognitive slowdowns for reassessment
🧪 Evaluation Notes
Encourage weekly assessments on:
Gait symmetry
Balance time in poses
Squat strength and depth
Visual tracking & multitask improvement
Side dominance correction (use mirror + video)
